Based on the tests of the water we performed in the UK and Korea, Hygea Water System increases alkalinity of tap water on average from about 7.0-7.5 pH to about 9.0-9.5 pH, while reducing the Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) of water from about +200/+300 mV to about -200/-150 mV. These indicators were measured by independent laboratories immediately after filtration, depending on the tap water indicators at the inlet of the system. The cleaning of the filter system depends primarily on the pollution of the water in the area where you live. Normally, you will need to clean your system once a month and the best results are achieved with our Hygea Eco Cleaner Gel. We do not recommend the use of chemical detergents such as soap, washing-up liquid etc., unless specifically stated. You can consume water that has stayed in the filter system for up to 7 days without worrying, as the mineral and silver-impregnated stones keep the water fresh and clean of bacteria. After this period, we recommend that you dispose of this water and clean the water storage container as described in the INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE.

If you go for a maximum of about a week, you can leave the system full of water without worrying about it. If you will be away for a longer period of time, it is advisable to drain the water from the system, remove the filter cartridge and put it in a plastic bag in the fridge. When you come back, clean the system, fill it with water, and throw away the first container of filtered water, just in case.

Yes, this is completely normal. The ceramic filter is the first sieve for all impurities from the water. If it remains completely white, as at the beginning, it means that either your water is completely clean or the filter is ineffective. As a matter of fact, it has never happened to us that the ceramic filter remained absolutely white. So, over time, despite periodic cleaning, it is perfectly normal for the ceramic filter to turn yellow, orange or even light brown.

Hygea Water System should not be placed in direct sunlight, as this promotes the growth of green unicellular algae on the walls. They are completely harmless, although they are undesirable and appear everywhere where there are pipes and water.

Hygea Water System filters, purifies, mineralizes and magnetizes water. Reverse osmosis filters and purifies water, but takes minerals out of it. It is important to know that, in reverse osmosis, only about a quarter of the filtered water is good for drinking, the rest is waste. Moreover, reverse osmosis filters require very frequent and intensive cleaning. If this rule is not observed, the impurities can get into the filtered water and make it more polluted than it was at the beginning!
